Speaking of 1950's Maternity...

I was recently having a conversation with another seller about vintage maternity fashions.  I thought I'd share the quick and dirty pictures here of the lovely suit I just acquired.

I know the pics kind of suck but I was hoping to show how the skirt was designed to expand.  I believe the two V shaped cut outs were meant to be worn in back.

More posts soon!

  2. I just bought a vintage maternity dress too. Very interesting stuff! I've looked at patterns but never seen one in person till recently. I don't plan on having another baby for a few years, but when I do, you'll be seeing a LOT of this stuff on my blog, for sure!! :) I'm a little scared of those skirts and pants with the big hole cut out for the belly....we shall see!

  3. Years ago-16 actually I ran across a bunch of deadstock maternity while shopping at Meow in Long Beach. I didn't buy any. There was a beautiful pink suit I have searched in vain for each pregnancy! The tie around the belly is funny. I guess having your belly free would be comfy.

  4. I bought a great vintage maternity set at a vintage store near Addison and Paulina when I was pregnant with my second child. It did have the tie front with a large cut out. Thank goodness for modern fabrics; I wore it with a stretchy camisole underneath because you could see my bare belly from the underside otherwise.
